Campaign for, "Don't lie to me, Betty Media!

Don't Lie to me, Betty Media!

My whole purpose for this campaign about the media is simply because I want more people to want to be media literate. I want to enhance many measurable ways and reasons that make people think, " what have we been watching in T.V. all this time all how come they've been deceiving us like this and not telling us the truth about the world and the real original problems that we ourselves and globally everyone is facing." I say all this because what I'm going to be aiming on about media literacy is going to be about how and why the mass media ignores the real conflicts that our world and us are facing today and even in the past. "Media gives out the message that only we want to hear for ourselves and become oblivious to our surroundings, not aware of the real problems the world is facing and we can't face reality. Being media literate means not believing in what we want to believe and start believing in the truth and trying to reclaim our mental environment." says the producer of the media literacy campaign called "Dont lie to me, Betty Media!''.
The target audience/demographic that I will be convincing is adults, students, children, teenagers and above all, anybody infact; of all gender and age.
The slogan of this particular campaign is called "the media is a world of lies that hides the world of truth under it's realm."
Many factors or many things that are explained in this campaign is how media basically hides the truth and it monipulates people to do things that everyone else is doing and tells them, basically controls them by all means using evidence of famous "celebrities'' showing what they do, they like to do, who they fall in love with or what going on in THEIR LIFE!! Why should we believe what the media says? all the media ever talks about is the private life of celebrities; and even though celebrities want to keep themselves far away from the mass media or papparazzi themselves. So? Then why doesn't the media give up then? and start looking at the reality of life, a sad horrible life, not always telling us that it's okay and there's no global issues that the world is facing and no global conflicts! Is that what the media trying to say? That there isn't conflict in the world that ruins our daily life? and basically, the lives of poor people, refugees, famine or people with disease... why are they all being ignored and the famous people being targeted? because the media wants us to be jelous or feel presumptuous in a self conceited way that makes us want to become celebrities and not care for anyone but ourselves. The media purposely makes us want to change ourselves because they provide evidence that seems appealing in our eyes the demographic because they try to relate our lives to celebrities and make us feel like we have nothing to care about except for ourselves. Now, I don't want to become a self conceited fool so I don't believe in the media's words! Because they are all senseless fools who try to manipulate us to for becoming their little gossip plaything that spread the gossip for them even further for others to knows about the certain news about famous things or famous people; the MEDIA SUCKS!!! I for one, doesn't want to be used for their dirty tricks! I believe that we can still change the world by not believing in the media's words because anyways, media doesn't even ADMIT the sad truth about this world; and sure, the media just made this world uglier.

Making your own Perfume/Deodorant Advertisement

Task: Invent a new deodorant or perfume called " Cupid Love''

Target Audience: Women, people who want to fall in love, teenager girls, girls no older than 30 years old; a young demographic.

-Describe the aroma(smell), the ingredients, and the cost; and the best place to wear the new perfume.

-Create and make a magazine advertisement to sell your dynamic new product.

-Use interesting words and similes to describe your new product.

Ingredients:
"This contains the essence of roses, the smell of fresh ripe strawberries, and the fragrance of sweet temptation~"
The aroma is basically about, "the secret ingredient to love."

Some slogans or catchy sentences that I used for the advertisement were:

-"Grow wings and fly to your loved ones."
-"Let your love make the world go round."
And, including the companies name, "Made with love."

The purpose for making this advertisement called "Cupid Love", is because this advertisement is about the feelings of a love a person wants to convey to another; this perfume "Cupid" as in the angel of love, and "Cupid love'' because it signifies innocent and blooming love showing that the design on the perfume has a heart made up of roses and points that meet below forming a heart. In the ingredients, I included sayings such as "smell, fragrance, and essence"; the words have the same meaning and all signify hos wonderful the odor smells and how exotic it is; gives it a lovely transformation. "The secret ingredient to love" signifies how the perfume is the source to the enchanting love that a dream fanatic dream girl would want in her life; so this basically represents the special ability to make someone fall for you is to use "this" perfume. "Let love make your world go round" symbolizes how too much love in your relationship can make you dizzy and make you head be filled with your wonderful ability to make people fall for you; so this basically represents the widespread of the many people who will come to love you just by using this perfume. "Grow wings and fly to your loved ones" is mainly the focused slogan for the perfume because it signifies "Cupid love" that the first thing that might come into your mind is an angel holding an arrow that targets exactly "who" you want to make fall in love with you and gives a passionate feeling and a relaxed feeling that makes you think, "just let the perfume do all the work for you to grasp others into your web or so to say, love game...

"Mulan" another Disney movie

"Mulan"

Mulan is a Disney Chinese movie that shows how Chinese women had no independence in the past...

Hua Mulan was based on a real story of a women who went to war and nearly won the Chinese war disguised as a man.

Mulan's values were stood on high standards, because of her superiority was standing as much of a standard of a white women;
and her body shows a more masculine bodily structure rather than a normal regular Chinese woman's fragile body.

In the movie, be
cause all the Chinese eyes are slanted eyes that represents gruesome attitudes towards the dialogue of the original story; And there were many stereotypes in the movie as well like for example... "if your Chinese, then you have to give out a wise characteristic and the Huns are barbaric, like animals and they give off the negative aura as in growling and grunting.

Advertisements about Perfume and Deodorants

Perfume and Deodorant Ads

So, basically, we have been learning about Perfume and Deodorant advertisements in which we have been taught that most of the advertisements appeal to sex interest, appeal to people to conform or belong or appeal to people's desire to escape/fantasy.
Like, for example, this advertisement basically shows the targeted audience that are for girls who have a girly pink fetish; and the name of the perfume that is written in a cursive font and also shows that the name of the perfume, "Vivid Fragrance" shows how clear the message is and how the smell had a vivid imagery and showing flowers that kind of represents the beauty and the feeling of feeling pretty wearing the perfume.

Perfume ads such as these give out a fancy taste showing sex interest and appeal to self indulge and escape to fantasy, along with the appeal to people's desire to conform or belong. Like, for example the perfume ad by the production based on the movie "Twilight"; it shows how celebrities or famous movies with famous celebrities can make people want to buy things because the brand spirit indicates that the "Twilight series" make the perfume appealing to sex interest because the movie itself is a love movie with delicious responses and the movie itself is also a desire to escape/fantasy appeal showing that the perfume also makes real life seem fictional.

Sweatshops Nike

Nike Sweatshop Slavery

Questions to be summarized for "Sweatshops and Nike shoe slavery".

Q1. What is a sweatshop and how bad is the problem?

Ans. A sweatshop is a shop or a factory that the employees have to works for long hours, and get paid less. It is sort of like slavery. The US Department of Labor describes sweatshops as a violation to more than two labor laws for example, those who works for hours and get a low wage and child labor etc...

Q2. Doesn't low-wage sweatshop employment help alleviate poverty; aren't sweatshops a necessary step on the road to economic development?

Ans. No, "In many cases, countries' minimum wages are insufficient to climb out of poverty,"

says Tod Larsen... For example... Wall-Mart has a rate of 43 cents of wage per hour. After only spending money on the daily meals and transportation to work, the every day average worker is always left with around 80 cents per day for their rent, bills, child care, school costs, medicines, emergencies, and other several expenses.

Q3. But if the companies have to cut costs to stay competitive, aren't sweatshops inevitable?

Ans. No, not at all; because the low prices are just one of the many factors that take the account when they shop and the most consumers don't want to purchase goods made in sweatshops like for example, the reports from Sense magazine in 2006 about Dollars; John Miller- He explains how the decent wages have affected on a company's competitiveness. Another article is from Mexico's apparel industry, talking about the Political Economy Research Institute that found out about the the increasing of the wages given from non supervisory workers that added $1.80 to a $100 men jacket... Some reasonable working hours that don't threaten countries have just a normal 17 hour working hours for employees so that the Americans save at least a few dollars
for clothing.

This is a link to watch a video based on "Nike Contractor in Malaysia using forced labour:

What I learned from this video is that most of the people that work for Nike in Malaysia are paid less than 6 dollars per day and less than 45 Australian dollars per 6 days in a week. The company that the people both Vietnamese and different other Asians that have been forced to work or tricked to work for the Nike company; life for example, human trafficking that has been led to most of Asia from the Nike shoes company. This also shows that the recent workers that have been generally working for the Nike comapny have been tricked to work there because of advertisements and banners that have been set up so people can buy their productions and most got forced to work there by lying and traaping them; like for example, the vietnamese workers that were secretly found and they said that they can't escape because they had too little money and they also said that their passports were confiscated, and they told them to sign three year contracts in a different language that they didn't understand; it was like a virtual prison for them.

This is another video about basically "Nike sweatshops - Try not to cry"

the link to this webiste is:

What I learned from this video was that "Nike is a transnational company" and the workers work for 16 hours a day and 7 days a week and sometimes are also forced to work overtime. "They also work ridicoulously for low prices earning a wage of 50p a day; and also use children for the fact that they can pay the children workers even less. Because of the popularity and major demand for Nike productions every day, that would only mean more massive number of orders and more workers; and more terrible tactics and misery. There was also a table showed about people who have to live up with less than 1 or 2 dollars per day. Even the Union has been set up, but the exploitation still continues.....

Non-sensical advertisement

Poisonous Lust

The appeal to desire that I used was "Appeal to people's desire to escape/fantasy and appeal to people's desire for sex interest...

I used this advertisement as my ad to talk and advertise about because it makes the ad seem
more fictional and more attractive and the slogans sound more catchy.

This connects with the audience because the demographic that I am aiming for are women, young adults, lovers, and girls etc and people who desire to attract people by the fragrance of the perfume.
The different language techniques that I used were:
1. Compound words
2. Comparitives
3. Adjectives
4. Emotive language
5. Exclaimation
6. Hyperbole
7. Metaphors
8. Simile
9. Slogan
10.Cliche
The effect from these lanuage techniques are that they make the perfume more wantable and
seductive towards the mind and body. "Poisonous Lust'' is the title because that just relates to how the passion and the temptation spreads though the body of the person using the perfume like the fragnance wraps the person around into its little finger until the person feels the "Malicious Pleasure" from the perfume so good, that the perfume makes it for the person hard to breathe because of the "breathtaking temptation of the perfume that radiates seductive and alluring energy within the person.
The persuasive techniques that I used for my advertisement is "Emotional Words'', because it reveals the love and the pain within the person; the perfume that is.
I think that this perfume may have been persuasive enough to convince the audience to buy this product because these techniques that I used were feasable and they just might convince the audience to buy this product because my advertisement had many slogans, many adjectives with the appeal to desire based on escape/fantasy and sex interest that affects many people in the world becuase some people just love the attention and who doesn't like a perfume with a beautiful and delicate designs with lovable and delicious language techniques used that the person will be just absorbed in their zone whereas the metaphor's that I've used are quite fetching and fantastic. My advertisement also has an alluring, seductive effect that attracts people and a killing effect that makes a person "want" it so much, It'll kill them...

Appealing to me?

Appeal to the people's desire for a bargain...

It appeals me because in ''we sell for less'', it shows that they sell valuable products in a low price and in ''buy one, get one free''; they are hoping that the customers buy the product and getting another one along with it for free showing that the product is so good, that it needs to be bought more than once.

Appeal to novelty...

It appeals to me because in ''the newest, the latest design'' it shows that the people who are selling the product advertises that the specific product that they are selling is advanced and awesome to buy.

Appeal to science...

It appeals to me because they also are giving scientific proof on the product they are advertising and selling on... for ex. ''scientifically proved'' or ''contains miracle micro-enzymes for a better performance''; they are also giving a reason and detailed proof.

Appeal to people's desire to conform or belong...

It appeals to me because ''more people are changing to get with the strength'', is an example of an advertisement showing that 'this' certain product that the producers are selling can change and make you belong in the group and you won't be a certain outcast.

Appeal to people's desire for self indulge...

It appeals to me because for example, ''give your self a treat'', or you deserve a break'' shows that the advertisement that are being put on are more based on self deserving and more caring for a specific person's personal life; his'her own life.

Appeal to people's desire to want to be accepted...

It appeals to me because in the example, ''be cool with clear'', or ''healthy complexion'', shows that the producers of the advertisements are trying to persuade you to buy the product using things that concerns you fitting in and not becoming the outcast; kind of similar to people's desire to conform and belong.

Appeal to people's desire to feel safe and secure...

It appeals to me because the example of the ad, ''protect your home with...'' and ''for life long security insure with'' persuades the viewer or me to buy or purchase this because it is for her/his or his/hers' family's safety; it gives off the feeling of security and satisfaction.

Appeal to people's desire to escape/fantasy...

It appeals to me because in the ad its written, ''escape the rat race'' or ''discover romantic getaways'', meaning the feeling of freedom and aromatic fantasylike feeling...it gives off a breathtaking aura.

Appeal to people's desire to protect the environment...

It appeals to me from the example that was given that was, '' 100% recycled'' and environmentally friendly''; shows that and appeals to me because environmental problems is a big crisis in our world right now and I think that the advertisements on environmental things gives out a positive outlet.

Appeal to sex interest...

The ad that is given is, '' sensual fruit essence with excite your senses'' and ''exotic lashings of rich chocolate''; appeals to me because the feelings in the advertisements sound excting and intriguing because their description sounds very delicious in a way and even though it sounds like a figure of speech; the feelings are arousing.

Appeal to people's desire to protect their loved ones...

In the example, it is given; '' protect your family with...!'' and All natural ingredients, rich in vitamins to give your children the energy they need..'', shows that it appeals in a way targeting a more open minded and caring audience or an audience with a family that need taking care of...it shows that it can manipulate people to buy the specific product for buying by giving reasons why the customer should buy the product and what outcome will come if the customer does buy the product.
